Scrub Brush Descriptions
Heritage offers a wide array of bristle types for sweeping and scrubbing brushes. We pride ourselves on having the flexibility to create the correct brush for your application. Most machine manufacturers outsource their brush business and have no in-house flexibility to create special brushes for you, the customer. The sweeper/scrubber machine manufacturers who do manufacture their own brushes, do not make any special brushes and force you to take a brush that may not be perfectly suited for your application. We deal with a wide array of brush manufacturers, many of whom are the OEM supplier to your current sweeper or scrubber dealer. Our close relationship with these manufacturers, dating back to 1979, allows us to custom make sweeper or scrubber brushes. Whether you need a stiffer sweeping broom for your Tennant sweeper or a softer scrub brush for you Minuteman scrubber, Heritage can do it.
All of our cylinder and disc scrub brushes are manufactured to OEM specifications on heavy duty, durable molded disc blocks or cylinders. Marine grade wood blocks are substituted for disc brushes in special sizes such as 8" or 9". Bristle filaments are listed by diameter and grit equivalent (where applicable). The first number is the bristle diameter, or thickness. Trim length would vary based on whether filament was inserted in a disc or cylinder scrub brush. The second number is the grit grade or equivalent to grades of sandpaper. Grit brushes were originally designed to replace floor pads. The grit brushes are now used widely in industrial applications for material removal and polishing as well as scrubbing and stripping of hard surface flooring.

Main and Side Broom Bristles
Strata-Grit
One step down in aggressiveness from the Strata-Grit Plus. Strata-Grit uses the same Tynex-A filament in a .060" diameter with slightly smaller grit granules. Used on industrial and commercial flooring surfaces for heavy duty scrubbing of unsealed concrete or for stripping of sealed concrete, terrazzo, quarry and vinyl tile. Our most commonly used grit filament. Found in most aggressive cylinder scrub brushes from manufacturers such as Tennant, Advance, Minuteman and Factory Cat. A very aggressive scrubbing and stripping brush. Replaces black floor pads. Also known as Abrasive, Purple Grit Brush, and Magna Grit. Commonly Dark Blue or Purple.
Nylon
.033" Crimped white Nylon filament. The most popular Nylon filament inserted in sweeping brushes. Long lasting Nylon filament is perfecte for sweeping smooth to slightly irregular surfaces. Great for dust when made in a high density configuration. This is the Nylon found in most Tennant and Minuteman Power Boss sweeping brooms.
Stiff Nylon .030"/.044"
.030"/.044" Blend. A blend of .030" and .044" grey crimped Nylon filaments. Nylon is the longest lasting sweeping filament available. A very durable sweeping broom. Used on American Lincoln Sweepers and Sweeper/Scrubbers Only.
Stiff Nylon .045"
.045" Crimped white Nylon. Stiff Nylon sweeping brooms are commonly used outdoors or indoors where larger debris exists. Slightly stiffer than the standard .033" crimped Nylon, the .045" Nylon brooms can tackle industrial sweeping jobs with little effort.
Nylon .022"
A soft brush that is ideal for scrubbing light dirt and soils, not abrasive enough for heavy soils.
Level Poly .030"
A Medium-stiff poly scrub brush, the .030" level poly will be stiffer than the .030" crimped poly.
Poly .035"/.055"
A blend of .035" and .055" polypropylene filaments. Polypropylene is a cheaper alternative to Nylon.
Natural Fiber (Union)
A mix of Tampico and Bassine. Used primarily indoors in dry conditions where high dust is an issue. The high desnity version of this brush is great for indoor dust collection. Natural fiaments were the first materials inserted into sweeping brooms. An old school type of broom. For a longer lasting brush, look to the synthetics such as Nylon or Poly.
Crinkle Wire
